Centre committed to fulfill all promises to AP: Jaitley

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today asserted that the Centre was committed to fulfill all the promises envisaged in the AP Re-organisation Act to Andhra Pradesh State.

AP Chief Minister N Chandrabababu Naidu today met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed on various issues relating to the residuary State. Naidu also met some Union ministers later.

Addressing a joint press conference along with Chandrababu Naidu, Jaitley said they had a meeting with the Prime Minister in which NITI Ayog vice-chairman was also present. The meeting lasted for about one-and-an-half hour. “We discussed all issues in detail”, Jaitley said.

The Prime Minister asked NITI Ayog vice-chairman to fulfill all promises made to Andhra Pradesh, Jaitley said, adding that the Centre has provided financial assistance to Andhra Pradesh in first year and it will continue. The Centre would also give relief in taxation in seven backward districts of the State, he added. (NSS)
