Ceasefire violations by Pak could be to get attention: Def Min

New Delhi: Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today said “getting attention” could be one of the intentions behind the ceasefire violations by Pakistan.

Parrikar said the recent ceasefire violations by the neighbouring country were taking place on the International Border (IB) which is manned by the Border Security Force.

“Sometimes intent of firing is to get attention,” he said while interacting with journalists on the sidelines of the naval commandos conference here.

Pakistan targeted 30 border outposts and several hamlets today with mortar bombs and heavy machine guns in Samba and Kathua districts injuring a civilian, as it continued ceasefire violations for the fourth day.

The ceasefire violations by Pakistan, which had stopped after the Director General-level talks between BSF and Pakistan Rangers in Delhi on September 12, resumed on October 23 and a civilian has been killed and seven injured till now.
