Cate Blanchett lands career honour at Australian Oscars

London: Cate Blanchett is to be honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the Australian Oscars.

The Australian actress, 46, will be feted for her contribution to the film industry with the coveted Longford Lyell Award, the country’s highest acting honour, which is named after the late actress-filmmaker of the same name.

The trophy will be presented at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards ceremony in Sydney on December 9.

“Cate Blanchett will be celebrated for generations to come as one of the finest performers of our times,” declares AACTA President, Geoffrey Rush.

“I along with so many others have tracked her bright star rising. Today it is a pleasure to see Cate honoured as one of our best, alongside so many of Australia’s great men and women of screen. I couldn’t be more proud of, or more pleased for, this exceptional woman and performer.”
