New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday condoled the death of President Pranab Mukherjee’s wife Suvra Mukherjee who passed away at the Army Research and Referral Hospital here.
“Pained to know about the passing away of Mrs. Suvra Mukherjee. My condolences to Rashtrapati ji and his family in this hour of grief,” The Prime Minister said in a tweet.
“Mrs. Suvra Mukherjee will be remembered as a lover of art, culture & music. Her warm nature endeared her to everyone she met,” he added.
The Congress president Sonia Gandhi also expressed deep sadness at the passing away of the First Lady.
Extending her condolences to the President and other members of the family, Sonia said that she, Congress party and the entire country stood with them in this moment of bereavement.
The First Lady, who remained hospitalised for 11 days, breathed her last at 10.51 am at the Army Research and Referral Hospital here.
Suvra was admitted to the Army Hospital on August 7 after she complained of breathlessness and discomfort. Since then she was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). (ANI)
