Brahmins condemn reservation policy, demands new

Faridabad:  Terming present reservation policy as wrong, Brahmins today demanded reservation on economic conditions and not on caste basis.

“The current reservation policy is totally wrong. The policy should be to provide reservation on financial basis and not based on caste,” BSP MLA from Faridabad’s Prithla Constituency, Tekchand Sharma said while addressing a program hosted by “Gautam Brahmin Sangathan Faridabad” here.

BJP MLA from Aligarh Satish Gautam, who was chief guest of the function, alleged that Brahmins played a crucial role in bringing BJP to power in Haryana but they were ignored.

“While 95 per cent of Brahmins voted to let BJP form government in the state with full majority, they have been left out at the time of distribution of ministerial birth.

“Only Ram Bilas Sharma, Education minister has been given the right opportunity,” Gautam said, adding that the Brahmins being very patient so they were being deprived of their right.

He also said in the ensuing Bihar Assembly polls the BJP would win with absolute majority.

Cutting across the party lines, Brahmins participated in the function. Apart from Sharma and Gautam, Moolchand Sharma — BJP MLA from Ballabgarh, Pandit Shiv Charanlal Sharma — former Congress minister and Anand Kaushik — former Faridabad MLA from Congress also shared the dais with their counterparts of BSP and BJP.

Apart from caste-based reservation, another issue that was raised by the dignitaries was of the school dropout children.

Moolchand Sharma said a policy was needed to for children who leave the school in between as these children may become criminals.

“Hence, a policy needs to be framed to get these children back to mainstream,” he said.
