Brad Pitt to develop feature film on sci-fi novel ‘Illuminae’

Los Angeles: Actor-producer Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment will be adapting “Illuminae”, a new young adult sci-fi novel in collaboration with Warner Bros.

Written by award-winning authors Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff the story is told through a dossier of hacked documents including emails, maps, files, IMs, medical reports and interviews, said The Hollywood Reporter.

The first of “The Illuminae Files” trilogy, the novel centres on a hacker and her ex-boyfriend in the year 2575 with two rival mega corporations warring over a planet at the edge of the universe.

With a plague breaking out, the duo is forced to evacuate the planet with a hostile warship in pursuit.

Pitt will produce along with Plan B partners Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner.

Sarah Esberg will executive produce and execute for Plan B.

Hunt for writers to adapt “Illuminae” has already started.

Plan B has produced films like “World War Z,” “12 Years a Slave,” “The Big Short” and “The Lost City of Z.”
