Bouchard pulls out of US Open with concussion

London: Canadian player Eugenie Bouchard has been ruled out of the US Open after suffering a concussion in a locker room accident, tournament director David Brewer has confirmed.

Bouchard, who was slipped in a dark locker room following her third-round mixed doubles win along with partner Nick Kyrgios of Australia, failed to recover from the head injury.

World number 24th was set to lock horns with unseeded Italian Roberta Vinci in the fourth round, who has now advanced to the quarterfinals by the walkover, the Guardian reported.

Earlier, the 21-year-old had already withdrawn from the women’s doubles and mixed doubles. (ANI)
