BJP’s beef politics will influence voters in Bihar polls: Left

Targetting the NDA over Kerala House “raid” and other similar incidents, the Left parties today said that the ruling BJP is left with “no” answer to the beef politics and the issue will “definitely” influence voters in the on-going Bihar Assembly polls.

Asserting that the issue will be important in shaping up public consciousness, the Communist parties reiterated their demand for a thorough probe into Delhi Police’s “raid” at the state guest House on complaint that beef was being served in its canteen.

“It has become an issue to which the RSS-BJP has no answer. And this is definitely going to influence voters in the on-going Bihar elections and will also be important in shaping the consciousness of people in the country,” CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury said.

The Rajya Sabha member made the remark on the sidelines of party’s two-day politburo meeting, which concluded here today.

Saying that Delhi police’s entry into the state guest house was “illegal and unacceptable”, CPI demanded Centre to come clean on the issue.

“The party condemns the act and demands a thorough probe into the incident. This incident raised several critical questions regarding Centre-State relations under BJP rule,” CPI said in a statement, adding such incidents have genesis in the RSS-BJP campaign allegedly aimed at creating communal divide.

In an action which triggered a political row, a police team had gone to the guest house on Monday after receiving a complaint allegedly from a right-wing outfit Hindu Sena that beef was being served in the canteen of Kerala House.
