BJP’s ‘arrogance, sickening language’ cost them Bihar: TMC

Mumbai, Nov. 8 : The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Sunday congratulated the mahagathbandhan for their comprehensive win in the Bihar Assembly elections and said that the Bharatiya Janata Party’s arrogance and ‘sickening language’ during campaigning had cost them the elections.

“Whenever the BJP loses, India wins and India is saved. As Mamata di said this morning, this is a victory for tolerance over intolerance. Their arrogance has cost them the polls. We, in the TMC, are particularly happy and Mamata di had made it clear right from the start as to whom she was supporting,” TMC national spokesperson Derek O’Brien told ANI here.

He further attacked the BJP, saying they talked about a ‘Digital India’ sitting in air-conditioned rooms while plotting a ‘Divisive India’ in their campaign trail.

“Congratulations @NitishKumar ji, Lalu ji & your full team. And all my Bihar brothers & sisters. Victory of tolerance, defeat of intolerance,” West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had tweeted earlier.

Applause and wishes poured in for Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar today following the grand alliance’s clinical win in the Bihar Assembly elections.

The BJP, however, put up a brave face and accepted the people’s mandate as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party president Amit Shah wished Nitish, congratulating him.

The mahagathbandhan is leading in 161 seats while the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA is ahead in 74 seats respectively so far. (ANI)
