Bihar polls: Over 55 percent turnout by 4 p.m.

Patna, Nov. 5 : The fifth phase of polling in Bihar on Thursday saw 55.9 percent voters casting their votes till 4 p.m.
The polling recorded in Madhubani district saw 52.04 percent, Supaul 57.14 percent, Araria 57.50 percent, Kishanganj 58.34 percent, Purnea 57.77 percent, Katihar 63.70 percent, Madhepura 56.89 percent, Saharsa 49.22 percent, and Darbhanga 53.51 percent respectively till 4 p.m.

The fifth and final phase of the Bihar Assembly polls began at 7 a.m. today for 57 seats spread across nine districts.

The 57 constituencies which fall in the Seemanchal-Mithilanchal-Kosi belt, are spread across nine districts of Madhubani, Darbhanga, Supual, Madhepura, Saharsa, Araria, Kisanganj, Purnea and Katihar.

Polling will conclude in 55 constituencies at 5 PM, whereas in the 2 Naxal-affected seats- Simri Bhaktiyarpur and Mahisi in Saharsa district, polling concluded at 3 PM.

Voters will decide the fate of 827 candidates, including 58 women.

The Election Commission has put all arrangements in place to ensure free and fair voting. (ANI)
