Bihar police officer suspended in two engineers’ killing

Patna: A day after police failed to make any breakthrough and arrest anyone involved in the killing of two engineers in Darbhanga district, the officer in charge of the Baheri police station was suspended on Sunday, police said.

Two engineers from a private construction company were shot dead on Saturday allegedly for not paying extortion, police said.

“No arrest has been made so far, Bihar Police chief has sought a detail report from Darbhanga superintendent of police about the incident,” a senior police official said.

Darbhanga Superintendent of Police A. K. Satyarthi has suspended Rama Shankar Singh, officer in charge of the Baheri police station, for negligence of duty.

A special investigation team (SIT) has been formed, led by Special Task Force Superintendent of Police Shivdeep Lande.

Police suspect involvement of notorious gangster Santosh Jha and his shooter Mukesh Pathak in the killing.

According to the police, evidence said extortion was demanded from the Gurgaon based A C & C Construction Limited engaged in building a Rs.7.5 crore state highway project.

The two engineers were killed near Shivram village within the jurisdiction of under the Baheri police station.

Six suspected people were interrogated in this connection, police said.
