Bihar to have Muslim CM if third front wins: Pappu Yadav

Patna: Bihar will have a Muslim chief minister if the ‘third front’ wins the assembly election, former RJD leader Pappu Yadav said on Monday.

The Janadhikar Party chief, who was expelled by the Rashtriya Janata Dal, also said the deputy chief minister will be from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) if the third front forms the next government in the state.

“A Muslim will become the chief minister of Bihar if the third front wins two-third majority and forms the government,” Pappu Yadav told the media in his Lok Sabha constituency Madhepura.

Muslims constitute 16.5 percent of Bihar’s 10.5 crore population.

Six parties — Samajwadi Party, Nationalist Congress Party, Janadhikar Party, Samras Samaj Party of former union minister Nagmani, Nationalist Peoples Party of former Lok Sabha speaker P.A. Sangma and Samajwadi Janata Party of former union minister Devender Prasad Yadav recently formed the third front.

Pappu Yadav said the people of Bihar were “angry and unhappy” with both the BJP-led NDA and the alliance of the Janata Dal-United, the Rashtriya Janata Dal and Congress.

“People have made up their minds to reject both the NDA as well as the grand alliance,” he said.
