Islamabad: American journalist and a key witness in the Benazir Bhutto Murder Case, Mark Seigel, who recorded his statement before a Pakistan Anti-Terrorism Court said that General Pervez Musharraf has threatened Benazir Bhutto.
Mr. Seigel said that Benazir had described her 15-minute telephonic conversation with Musharraf on 25th September 2007 as a very “bad call”. He also said that she showed him the name of Musharraf on cell phone screen when he was calling. He added that she was very upset after attending the call.
He said that Musharraf warned Benazir that her life was in danger and her involvement in politics in Pakistan will be at her own responsibility. He also added that Benazir had sent him an email on October 23, 2007 where she expressed her sense of insecurity.
Mr. Seigel said that in the email, she wrote that if something happened to her, Musharraf should be held responsible for it. She also mentioned other names which includes former ISI Chief, General Hamid Gul, Ex-Chief of Intelligence Bureau Ijaz Shah and former Punjab CM, Pervez Ilahi in the email. He also claimed that Benazir wrote a letter to Musharraf in which she informed Musharraf that his top officers were planning her murder.
Mr. Seigel recorded his statement at Pakistan Embassy in Washington DC on Thursday night at around 8 p.m.
