Barkha Singh asks Kejriwal to advise Somnath to cooperate with investigation

New Delhi: Former Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson Barkha Shukla Singh on Tuesday asked Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to advise AAP MLA Somnath Bharti to cooperate with the police investigation in a domestic violence case filed against him.

“I want to appeal to Arvind Kejriwal not to hide his party’s MLA and request him to advise Somnath Bharti to cooperate with the investigation. He has been the former law minister and has proper knowledge of law. I would ask Arvind Kejriwal not to mislead his party’s MLAs and follow the path of justice.” Singh told ANI.

“I thank the judiciary for its decision of justice which it has given to the woman. It has sent a good message to the society that judiciary is very much sincere towards women,” she added.

The AAP MLA is facing a non-bailable warrant against him in a domestic violence and attempt to murder case filed by his wife, Lipika Mitra.

The Delhi High Court today dismissed Bharti’s anticipatory bail plea.

On June 10, the DCW had served a notice to Bharti after Mitra accused him of domestic violence.

She has alleged that she has been facing violence at the hands of Bharti since 2010 and has said that she wants a separation in order to live with her children ‘with dignity’. (ANI)
