Ban on Porn websites, a boom to CDs, DVDs market

The Narendra Modi government task of ‘Swachh Internet’ by blanket ban over pornographic websites proves to be profitable for porn DVDs sellers because a number of cities across the country reported a spike in the demand and cost of underground sale of porn DVDs.

According to reports, people and retailers queued up in markets where the DVD business is known to be flourishing more than before.

The DVDs which were available for Rs 100 last week are being sold for Rs 300. Vendors increased the porn CD prices by 20% to 30%.

MMS clips, most in demand, now cost Rs 30-40 -nearly double, as reported in TOI.

Because of the ban, one’s right to choose from the bundle has also curbed. None of the CDs or DVDs wears erotic covers.

The government directed ISPs to restore access to those among 857 banned porn and humour websites that did not feature child pornographic content.
