Ballaghgarh incident ‘case of personal animosity’ only: BJP

New Delhi, Oct. 22 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday criticised the opposition for playing politics over the ‘heinous’ crime of Ballabhgarh incident where two Dalit children were killed, saying that it was a case of personal animosity and not of communal violence.

“It’s a very heinous crime. It’s a case of murder where a family has been almost wiped out. Only one or two people are survivors. I am quite sure that the state police is taking action,” BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi told ANI.

“But equally heinous is the manner in which politicisation happens in this country. A case of personal animosity has been turned into a case of communal violence which is unfortunate,” she added.

“Worst are the people or rather inhuman who politicise such events and use it as a political weapon when it is not a case of caste-based violence… The cause of violence was not the caste but non payment of some money,” she further said.

Two children succumbed to burn injuries after a house was set on fire allegedly by members of the Rajput community in Ballabhgarh, Haryana on Tuesday morning.

The deceased Vaibhav (2 years) and Divya (10 months) died before reaching the Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.

Their mother Rekha (22) was admitted to the ICU with serious burns while her husband Jitender (26), a medical attendant at a hospital, escaped with minor burns on his hands.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has sought a report from Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on the incident and asked him to ensure peace in the region. (ANI)
