Auto Unions Oppose Road Safety Bill—Support Nation-wide Strike

The all Auto Driver Unions meeting held today at Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram in protest against the proposed Road Safety Bill, unanimously decided to participate in the nation-wide strike on September 2 and make it a success.

Earlier Mohd Amanullah Khan, Convenor TADJAC addressing the drivers, said that if the Modi Government is so interested to minimize road accidents, it should immediately impose total prohibition in the country. He said that if total prohibition is imposed, not only 50 per cent of the road accidents but also social crimes will come down automatically. Further, he demanded the Telangana State Government to ban the diesel driven Uber and ola cabs in GHMC on the lines of New Delhi. He clarified that a ban was recently imposed in New Delhi on Uber and Ola vehicles as they posed environmental threat. Finally, he expressed his strong protest at the decision of the City Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy imposing “no entry” for autos around Charminar blaming that they caused atmospheric pollution, and said the same is intolerable and announced that the auto drivers would soon launch agitation against the discriminatory move. B. Venkatesham, V. Kiran, Narender, Maraiah and others also spoke.(NSS)
