An Australian nurse, Adam Brookman, has been charged with terrorism offences for providing support to Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) after he voluntarily returned to Australia from Turkey.

According to the BBC, Brookman said that he was in Syria to carry out humanitarian work when he was forced to join ISIS militants.

The 39-year-old was detained at the airport in Sydney after he surrendered to officials in Turkey.
