Attempt to suppress 12% reservation movement of Siasat Urdu Daily – Hoardings removed and erected after public protest

Hyderabad: The campaign launched by Siasat Urdu Daily for 12% reservations to Muslims has perturbed Govt. portals. It was sensed when an attempt was made to remove the hoarding erected at the Hajj House wherein Govt. of Telangana was reminded of its election promise for providing 12% reservation to Muslims. Officials of Wakf Board instructed the ad agency to remove the hoarding. Officials of Wakf Board are lip tight to reveal the name of the officer who issued these instructions. Under the pretext of anti-Government hoarding, an attempt was made to remove it.

Soon after receiving this information, Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu and Mr. Amer Ali Khan, News Editor of Siasat Urdu tried to contact the concern officials but they did not give any satisfactory reply. The Muslims presented at the spot protested against this attempt. On instructions from Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, President of Deccan Wakf Protection Society, Mr. Osman bin Mohammed Al Hajri, President of Insaaf Organisation of Greater Hyderabad, Mr. Syed Kaleemuddin Askar and social activist, Mr. Mohammed Saleem reached the stop and stopped the attempt to remove the hoardings. They spoke to CEO of Wakf Board, Mr. Asadullah to find out the reasons for issuing orders for the removal of hoarding but he did not give any convincing reply. After this protest, the hoarding was erected again. Local police also arrived on the spot and elicited the details from the concerned officials of the Wakf Board. They informed the police that instructions were issued for the removal of the hoarding presuming it to be anti-Government whereas it depicted to remind the promise of TRS for providing reservations. The people present in the Hajj House also protested against the removal of hoarding. They were of the opinion that Govt. should accept the movement launched by Siasat Urdu Daily for providing 12% reservation to Muslims. They also demanded the Govt. to make its policy clear on its election promise and to take steps for its enactment. The anxiety of the Govt. circles depicts that it has pressure of this movement. Police and Intelligence Departments have also submitted a report to the Govt. People’s representatives and TRS leaders are also apprising the Ministers of the sentiments of the people about this movement. After erecting the hoarding at Hajj House again, Police pickets were posted late at night.
