Aruna slams TRS Govt over cheap liquor policy

Congress senior leader and former minister DK Aruna has accused TRS Government of playing with the health and lives of poor people by deciding to introduce cheap liquor policy.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here on Wednesday, Aruna said that the ‘gudamba’ has already spoiled thousands of poor families and claimed several lives. The impact would be multiplied by many times if cheap liquor policy is introduced. She said that the State Government should discourage people from consumption of liquor. However, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao is openly promoting cheap liquor and toddy.

Aruna claimed that the cheap liquor policy was strongly opposed by the ministers during today’s cabinet meeting. However, the Chief Minister appears firm on introducing the policy. She warned that the Congress party would launch a massive agitation against the policy, if it is introduced. (INN)
