Appointment of VCs, faculty by Dec: Srihari

Blaming previous governments for pathetic condition of Education system, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari today said the TRS government would will strengthen universities and educational institutions through a complete overhaul to filling of adequate staff to provide better quality education to cater to the needs of companies, industries and organizations. The government will appoint vice-chancellors, professors and lecturers for the varsities by constituting governing bodies in four months, he said.

Holding a review meeting on the government’s flagship program of “KG-to-PG” education and to bring under one umbrella all the residential and gurukul schools, he said it was decided to set up 10 residential schools under each Assembly segment as part of setting up a total of 1,190 Gurukul schools across the State. He also expressed concern that they have lost NAC recognition as there was no recruitment of staff in the varsities. However, the TRS Government is correcting the mistakes committed by the previous government, he said.

Srihari also announced release of Rs 300 crore towards scholarships and the remaining in the near future at a time when the students unions gave a bandh call for scholarships and solution to other pending issues. Denying third phase of Engineering counseling, he said the students can opt their options even now as over 30,000 seats were yet to be filled. “Besides offering quality education for 7.5 lakh students, we are providing sufficient food of fine rice for all the hostels’ students. We will implement the KG-to-PG free education from the next academic year that was fragmented into three categories such as – from 1stclass to 4th class, 5th class to Intermediate and from then onwards to post graduate level.

Releases open school prg

Releasing open school prospectus, Srihari said applications can be forwarded for admissions into Open Schools for SSC and Intermediate by September 5. Interested candidates can apply online at Mee Seva centers from August 8 to September 6 without penalty of fees and with penalty from September 6 to September 9, he said. As part of enrolment drive for 2015-16, the State government will conduct orientation program for district coordinators on August 11 and awareness programs from August 12, he added. (NSS)
