AP special status: Congress to launch campaign to send 1cr SMS to CM,Union Ministers

The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee has decided to launch a one crore SMS campaign to send SMS to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu and Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu.

The campaign would be organised from September 23-30. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the district unit presidents of the AP Youth Congress and the National Students Union of India chaired by APCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy here on Saturday.

Mr. Raghuveera Reddy had decided to initiate the campaign in Visakhapatnam. “Special category status is our right, it’s the stepping stone to our future,” one of the messages said.

The party would do the publicity through posters, pamphlets and through social media sites like WhatsApp, Twitter and Facebook.

Reacting to criticism by Congress leaders, Union minister and senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu told reporters today that Congress divided Andhra Pradesh just ahead of elections last year for political gains after “sleeping” over the issue for past ten years.

Naidu also said that why the Congress did not include the promise of special status in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.
