AP to maintain daily stock of 600 Tonnes Onions

Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao directed the officials to work out modalities for procurement and to maintain stock 600 Tonnes of Onions per day in the market and to supply them constituency-wise across the State.

The Chief Secretary chaired a meeting today with the State Level Price Monitoring Committee to review the prices of essential commodities. The committee constituted by the Government will monitor closely to track the prices and stock of essential commodities. To ensure food security the Committee would work towards control the price rise and to help the common man, Chief Secretary stressed.

While reviewing the price and availability of Onions, Chief Secretary said that onion prices rise across the state. Chief Secretary issued instructions to the Marketing Department to supply onions constituency-wise at one point and Civil Supplies Department has to look after to supply the onions where there are no Rythu Bazaars and to maintain the 600 tonnes of stock regularly. Ration Card will be insisted to get the onions not more than 2 KGs per card in a month. Cost of the onion per KG is Rs.20/-. Concerned Departments are requested constantly to watch the market price of the onion.

The Chief Secretary issued instructions to the concerned to strengthen anti-holding drive to ensure availability of onions and enforce the stock limit in all the Districts and informed to the officials to work out modalities to import the onions, Red gram, Black gram and other commodities till controlling the prices rise in the State.  (INN)
