AP Govt to pay salaries to Masjid Imams

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced that the State Government would pay monthly salaries to the Imams of all mosques in the State.

Speaking after laying foundation stone for the Urdu University in Kurnool district on Monday, Naidu said that the government would pay monthly salary of Rs. 5,000/- to all Imams from the current month. He also announced that 125 acres of land has been allocated for the establishment of Urdu university. He said an international airport would also be constructed in Kurnool.

Naidu said that the Kurnool district would be turned into an education hub and 900 acrs of land would be reserved for the purpose. He dismissed allegations of TDP Government neglecting development in Rayalaseema region. He said he was ready for an open debate on the issue and assured that Kurnool would be developed on par with Amaravati.

Deputy CM K.E. Krishna Murthy, Ministers Palle Raghunath Reddy and T. Srinivas Rao were also present on the occasion. (INN)
