AP Govt to give awards to meritorious children

Andhra Pradesh HRD Minister G. Srinivas Rao informed that the State Government would distribute awards among 6,550 meritorious children on the occasion of Children’s Day on November 14.

Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, Srinivas Rao said that the awards were being given to encourage the children further. The students who will be awarded include 4,026 from schools, 574 from intermediate, 325 from Degree, 425 from Professional and 1200 from Universities. Each of them would get a medal, citation and Rs. 20,000 cash. He said Rs. 13 crore have been earmarked for the purpose. He said nearly Rs. 15 crore were being spent to distribute awards among students.

The minister said that the award function, to be held in Vijayawada, would be attended by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. (INN)
