Amal threatens to destroy Muslims’ statues on Tank Bund

Awami Majlis-e-Amal Telangana has alleged that forcible installation of statues of Muslim leaders was a direct attack on the Islamic Culture and traditions and demanded that the KCR government remove the six Muslims’ statues in the city, including three on the Tank Bund before GHMC elections. Otherwise, the organization would launch a campaign urging Muslims not to vote for TRS candidates in the ensuing Municipal elections.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday, Awami Majlis-e-Amal Telangana president Mohd Amanullah Khan announced that if the State government failed to remove the Muslims’ statues on Tank Bund, they would march to Tank Bund and break the statues into pieces and throw them into the Hussain Sagar Lake.  Reminding that then Chief Minister late N T Rama Rao had installed three statues of Muslims on the Tank Bund despite strong protests from Muslim community, Amanullah Khan said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao also installed two statues of Muslims at different places in the city without even consulting Muslim leaders. “We are ready to go to jail, rather than tolerating the existence of the Muslims’ statues in the City”, he warned.

Awami Majlis-e-Amal Telangana     general secretary Mujahid Hashmi demanded that Chief Minister KCR tender an unconditional apology to Muslims for installing two statues disregarding the sentiments of Muslims by not consulting them. He demanded that the MIM party leadership to clarify as to why they are keeping quiet on this particular issue of installation of Muslims’ statues.
