Notwithstanding “limited” financial resources, the state government has been providing all possible help to the needy and poor sections of society, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said today.

“The present government has extended help to every section of society. Despite limited resources, the state government has been extending all possible assistance to all the needy persons be it farmers, labourers, students, youth, traders or advocates, all have benefited under the various welfare schemes,” he said.

The Chief Minister, who distributed cheques of Rs five lakh each to the families of 17 advocates from the lawyers’ welfare fund of the state government at a function organised at his official residence here, said that Samajwadi Party government has always taken care of their interests.

“Taking forward the work started by SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, the present government is seriously working towards providing more facilities to lawyers…The state government is committed to upholding their honour, safety and welfare,” Yadav added.

The dependents or families of advocates, under 60 years of age, who lost their lives after January 1, 2014 were handed over the cheques today.
