An all-parties’ meeting here on Saturday threatened to launch a mass movement if the TRS government failed to retrace its step on Cheap Liquor Policy.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy has alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has been playing with the health of the people of Telangana with Cheap Liquor policy.
An all-party meeting was organized against the TRS government’s Cheap Liquor Policy at Kalinga Bhavan beside TRS headquarters here on Saturday. Leaders from Congress, BJP, Telangana TDP, Left parties, Aam Aadmi Party and several voluntary organizations participated in the round-table conference.
Speaking on the occasion, Uttam Kumar Reddy demanded that the State government elicit opinion of the all-party meeting on cheap liquor policy. He also made it clear that the Congress would fight for the sake of people’s health and welfare.
Telangana TDLP leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao said anti-cheap liquor movement will be launched from Gajwel town, the Chief Minister’s home constituency soon. BJLP leader Dr K Laxman, Congress former MPs Ponnam Prabhakar and S Rajaiah participated in the meeting. The all-parties’ leaders said they would expose the misdeeds of the ruling party and government in the ensuing Assembly session.
On the occasion, the meeting set up an “anti-cheap liquor movement steering committee. Prof. P L Vishweshwar Rao was elected as steering committee chairman unanimously. (NSS)
