Barring TRS, all-party leaders here on Monday staged a huge dharna in protest against deletion of Balkampet Municipal Ward as part of Delimitation of Wards in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
Several division level leaders under Sanath Nagar Assembly constituency, led by former MLAs Marri Shashidhar Reddy, Katragadda Prasuna, TDP organizing secretary Venkatesh Goud, State BJP secretary Shyamsundar Goud staged dharna near the famous Ellamma temple at Balkampet. Leaders and activists from Congress, BJP, TDP, YSRCP and Left parties participated in the dharna.
Speaking on the occasion, the Opposition leaders alleged that the TRS government was trying to delete the Opposition-dominated wards from the GHMC for political gain in the ensuing elections to the Corporation. They also charged the TRS government with deleting Balkampet ward to destabilize the settlers besides removing a large number of settlers’ names from the voters list. (NSS)
