Aiyar experiencing ‘memory loss’ and Congress ‘distressed’: Najma Heptulla

New Delhi: Condemning senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar’s comment against Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a Pakistani news channel, Union Minority Affairs Minister Najma Heptulla on Tuesday said it was simply baffling to see the grand old party begging a neighbouring nation to join it to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party.

“I think Mani Shankar Aiyar has lost his memory. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the first prime minister who went on a bus to Pakistan, and what we got in return was the Kargil War. Aiyar is appreciating Pakistan for attacking India. I am sure that he would also appreciate the 26/11 Mumbai attacks,” Heptulla told ANI.

“I think the Congress Party has realised that the people have lost faith on them. And, that’s why there are begging to our neighbours (Pakistan) . I strongly condemned Aiyar’s statement. The Congress Party has forgotten that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had invited his Pakistani counterpart in his oath taking ceremony and extended the hand of friendship,” she added.

She also demanded a stern action against Aiyar as per the law of the land.

Aiyar who went to Pakistan before the Bihar Assembly polls, said in an interview to a channel, that Islamabad should help India in defeating Prime Minister Modi and ensure that the Congress is back at the Centre. (ANI)
