Air Wing, NCC Battalion Being Proposed to be Raised in Kashmir: Army

JAMMU: The General Officer Commanding White Night Corps, Lt Gen RR Nimbhorkar, today said that an Air wing and NCC Battalion has been proposed to be raised in Jammu and Kashmir, providing an opportunity to the youth of the state to join army.

“I express happiness that an Air wing and a NCC Battalion were being proposed to be raised in Srinagar, Kupwara and Udhampur respectively, which would provide new openings to the youth of the state,” Lieutenant General RR Nimbhorkar said today.

Mr Nimbhorkar, who visited the special national integration camp being held at NCC Camping Ground Nagrota in Jammu, emphasised the need to conduct more such camps for maintaining communal harmony and brotherhood besides strengthening national integration.

The officer described these as pre-requisite for the country’s growth and stability.

He further praised the significant contribution made by the NCC in grooming the youth of the country.

“The General Officer observed that the strength of NCC has grown over the years, but considering the strength of youth particularly in J&K, more boys and girls needed to be brought under the ambit of the organization”, he added.

The Corps Commander was received by Additional DG NCC Jammu and Kashmir, Maj Gen Neeraj Verma and other officers of NCC Group Srinagar.

Around 550 NCC cadets and Associate NCC Officers representing all states and Union territories are participating in the national integration camp.

The NCC contingent comprising of boy and girl cadets put up an impressive show in presenting Guard of Honour to Lt Gen RR Nimbhorkar.
