Agent held for ‘molesting’ woman

Hyderabad: A 42-year-old agent was arrested on charge of allegedly molesting a 30-year-old woman at Moinupura here after keeping her job visa and passport with him, police said today.

Mohd Kareemuddin, who is arranging job visa, allegedly molested the woman on August 20 after forcibly taking her to a room, a release from Hyderabad Police said.

According to police, the woman, who is having two kids, is a native of Guntakal town of Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh and was working as a maid servant after death of her husband three years ago.

She wanted to go Saudi to earn money to look after her family, it added.

“She had approached her relative who in turn introduced her to Kareemuddin, who took her passport without her relative’s knowledge. He later called her up stating he has received her job visa for Saudi and asked her to come to Hyderabad and collect visa,” police said.

Accordingly, she went to Hyderabad to collect visa and passport and met the accused, but he sought sexual favour from her to hand over the job visa and passport, police said.

“She refused his proposal, but he forcibly took her to a room and threatened her with dire consequences and molested her. The woman, pushed him aside and ran away from the spot and lodged a complaint with Charminar Police.
A case under the Indian Penal Code sections 354B (Assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe) and 506 (criminal intimidation) was registered,” the release added.
