Telugu film industry yesteryear legendary actress Smt. Jamuna visited Osmania University on Tuesday to receive long pending arrears of her husband Late Juluri Ramana Rao, who was zoology professor. She received an amount of Rs. 11.87 lakhs from OU Registrar Prof. E. Suresh Kumar.
V. G. Bilolikar, retired Professor, Department of Botany also received Rs. 12 lakhs.
In the process of clearing long pending arrears to 400 teachers who retired from service between 1996 to 2013, the Osmania University paid nearly Rs. 33 crore out of Rs. 41.62 crore with the permission of Executive Council. These payments have been long overdue and were not cleared due to dearth of funds. So far 300 teachers received their benefits and remaining were intimated regarding the details and are expected to visit Osmania University very soon to collect the amount.
Prof. D. Manohar Rao, President of Retired Teachers Association, retired Professors V. Nagulu, and B. Satynarayana were also present on the occasion. (INN)
