Abducted girl rescued

Jamshedpur: In swift action, police has recovered a UKG student hours after she was abducted by a student of Kolkata-based college from a school under Bistupur police station tonight, a senior police officer said.

The six-year-old girl, a student of the reputed Loyola school in Bistupur, was abducted after school hours allegedly by one Jyoti Bano Barla, who lured the girl with an offer of an ice-cream, said Senior Superintendent of Police, Anoop T Mathew said.

Barla is an alumni of Loyola school and currently doing her studies from St Xavier’s College, Kolkata, Mathew said.

The police had launched a massive search operation and conducted raid in the house of the culprit, who had came home here on vacation. Barla’s younger brother was also a student of the same school.

The accused had entered the school and lured the victim girl, who was waiting for her auto-rickshaw after school hours, with an ice-cream and abducted her, he said.

Initially, the girl was taken to Sonari, from where Barla along with a male accomplice called the girl’s mother, an employee of Bank of Baroda, demanding ransom for safe release of her daughter, he said.

The father of the girl, is an employee of Tata Motors, the officer said.

The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 4 lakh from the parents of the girl for her safe release, he said, adding that as soon as the police was informed of the incident, it had arranged the amount and sent the girl’s mother to hand over to the kidnapper to ensure safe release of minor girl.

However, the accused woman left the girl in Jubilee Park and fled under pressure of police, Mathew said, adding that the parents of the accused woman was detained for questioning.

A special police team formed to apprehend the culprits have launched a massive raids after a case was registered in this regard.
