AAP demands Delhi top cop Bassi’s resignation over rape of 23-year-old by ASI

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday demanded that Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi resign over the alleged rape incident of a 23-year-old woman by an Assistant Sub-Inspector in the Rani Bagh area of the capital city.

AAP leader Ashish Khetan said that the crime graph in the national capital has increased because the state’s police personnel themselves are involved in criminal activities.

“If Delhi Police is involved in crime, who will take care of the law? The crime graph has increased in Delhi because the police is now involved in criminal activities,” Khetan told ANI here.

“We demand B. S. Bassi’s resignation over this,” he added. An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Delhi Police has been sent to 14-days’ custody for allegedly raping a 23-year-old woman in the state’s Rani Bagh area, say reports.

The accused policeman reportedly raped the woman at gunpoint on Thursday and was also allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

Reports add that the incident was captured in CCTV cameras and a case has been registered against the accused. The police is also trying to verify the CCTV footage.
