Woman celebrates 105th birth day with family members

Coimbatore: A woman has celebrated her 105th birth day with her nearly over 100 family members in the district.

Hailing from a village near Avanashi in Tirupur district, Ramathal shifted to Periyanaicken Palayam, about 25 kms from here, after her marriage with Rangasamy.

After her husband’s death years back, she was staying with her only daughter Thulasiyammal and son-in-law, the family sources said.

According to the horoscope available with the family, Ramathal was born on October 30 in 1910, based on which she celebrated her 105th birth day by cutting cake and distributing it among the grandsons, great grand sons and grand daughters yesterday, the sources said.

Ramathal has three grand sons, four great grand sons, two great grand daughters and one great great grand son and the family tree has 125 members.

After the death of her only daughter, she is currently staying with one of her grandsons Kannusami.

Hail and healthy, Ramathal is very active and attends to her work without others’ help. She has never been to a doctor and not taken any medicine, the family members said.

Her diet include millets like ragi and jowar, two or three idlis, simple meals in the afternoon and a glass of milk daily, the sources said.
