56-year-old man dies of heart attack on poll duty

A 56-year-old person on election duty died due to a cardiac arrest at the polling booth in Naujheel block here today.

“Mahesh Chandra Saini, an employee at a state museum here, complained of severe pain in his heart today. He was rushed to nearby Primary Health centre where doctors declared him dead,” District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar said.

“His post-mortem report has confirmed death due to heart attack,” he said.

Saini was posted on election duty in Ram Nagla polling booth falling under Naujheel block at the time of the incident.

Meanwhile, no untoward incident was reported from any polling centre in the second round of village Panchayat election.

“While in Mat block, the polling percentage was 67.55 per cent, in Naujhil block the polling percentage was 70.77 per cent. The aggregate percentage was 69.22 with peaceful polling,” the DM added.
