40% of police jobs will be reserved for Hyderabad: Dy CM

Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali on Tuesday announced that 40% of 8,300 vacancies in the police department would be reserved for candidates from Hyderabad city.

Speaking after inaugurating the Pre-Police Recruitment programme at Quli Qutub Shah Stadium here, the Deputy CM assured that 40% quota would be provided to the candidates of Hyderabad in the vacancies in police department. He also assured that pre-police recruitment programmes would be organised in all the districts to train eligible candidates.

The Deputy CM said by taking up massive recruitment, the State Government is fulfilling its promise of providing jobs to unemployed youth. He also reiterated that the State Government was serious in providing 12% reservation to Muslims, although he did not specify whether the quota would be implemented in the ongoing recruitment drive.

Addressing the meeting, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy said that the training camp was being organised in the Old City on the representation of MIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi. He said at least 10% of nearly 3,000 constables to be recruited will be from the Old City of Hyderabad. He advised the Old City youth to benefit from the training camp. He also listed out various measures being done for modernisation of police force.

Asaduddin Owaisi said educated and secular youth should join the police force. He said besides 3,000 posts of constables, 520 posts of Sub-Inspectors were also being filled. He said this was a golden opportunity for the intermediate pass and graduate candidates to join the police force.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy and other senior police officials also participate in the programme. (INN)
