3 houses constructed for Kashmir flood victims

Residents of flood hit Kashmir are still battling the effects of one of the worst floods. The devastating floods had submerged parts of Jammu and Kashmir about a year ago. Nearly 300 people died in the floods and many more lost their homes and livelihood. 261361 buildings were damaged and dozens of houses submerged in water. Siasat and Faiz-e-Aam trust were first to lend a helping hand to the flood victims. They supplied medicines, infant food, ambulances to the victims and also undertook the task of rebuilding houses in some areas. Rising Kashmir Foundation also supported Siasat Millat Fund and Faiz-e-Aam Trust in the welfare activities.

A delegation comprised of Siasat editor Mr. Zahed Ali Khan, Managing editor Siasat Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, Secretary Faiz-e-Aam Trust, Mr. Iftekhar Husain and Trustee Mr. Rizwan Hyder and others reached Kashmir and reviewed damages caused by the flood and relief work of their institutions. Trustee Rising Kashmir Foundation and well known pediatrician Dr. Altaf Husain and Editor in Chief Rising Kashmir Dr. Shujat Bukhari monitored the relief and rehabilitation work.

According to Dr. Shujat Husain flood victims’ life has not returned to normalcy and people still await aid.

3 houses were constructed by Siasat Millat Fund and Faiz-e-Aam Trust under the supervision of Rising Kashmir Foundation and were handed over to the owners.
