2 massacres in 12 hours leave 15 dead in Honduras

Mexico City: Honduran police say 15 people have died in two massacres within a span of 12 hours.

Police say seven were shot in the capital of Tegucigalpa early today, while eight bus drivers were killed in the northern city of San Pedro Sula late yesterday.

Police commissioner Leonel Sauceda says that in today’s attack, six people were pulled from their homes by armed young men and executed. He says the manner of the crime suggest an attack by gangs, who battle for territory where they can charge extortions and sell drugs.

In the other slayings, six men in flak jackets and ski masks got off a bus at the terminal and shot the drivers one by one. Transport director Geovanny Dubon says the attack should be classified as “terrorism.
