2 French youths held for assaulting security men at IGIA

New Delhi: Two French nationals were arrested here for allegedly assaulting security personnel at IGI airport while they were being off-loaded from a flight following which Delhi Police has sent a report to MHA in this regard.

The duo has been placed in 14-days’ judicial custody by a court here.

The incident was reported at around 11 AM yesterday when the two French nationals — Victor Claude Carmelo Martinez and Morgan Paul Maurice Patenere — both aged around 25 years, were being off-loaded from an international flight for allegedly having consumed alcohol beyond the permissible limit and creating nuisance, said a police official.

“The youths allegedly assaulted security personnel while being off-loaded and a case of obstructing public servant in discharge of duties and assaulting a public servant was registered in connection with the incident,” said DCP (IGI) DK Gupta.

The youths were detained by a team of security personnel who later handed them over to police.

Police have communicated the matter to the France Embassy and also sent a report to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The accused were produced before a court which sent them to 14-days’ judicial custody, said an official.
