2 constables suspended over liquor smuggling charge

Mathura: Two police constables have been suspended for their alleged role in liquor smuggling from Haryana to the city.

“Constables Mahesh Yadav and Dharmendra Bharadwaj, prima-facie have been found guilty of involvement in liquor smuggling. Final action would be taken after an intensive probe”, SP City Shailesh Pandey said.

The action comes in view of the testimony provided by two arrested smugglers, namely, Laxmi and Rupendra, who alleged that the erring officers connived with them in the crime, he said.

Fifty-five boxes of liquor made in Haryana were seized from the smugglers at Krishna Nagar area today by a team led by Akhilesh Tripathi, the incharge of Krishna Nagar police outpost, police added.
