181 minor traffic offenders nabbed, 201 vehicles seized

Hyderabad: Cracking a whip against underage drivers, Hyderabad Police today caught 181 minors and seized as many 201 vehicles and warned of registering cases against parents of such traffic offenders.

“During a special drive conducted under 18 police station limits of South Zone here, the police found 181 minors driving motor vehicles in public places and seized as many as 201 vehicles,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Zone) V Satyanarayana said.

These minors in the age group of 12-15 years, were found driving bikes, including some high-end bikes, without driving licences and in a rash and negligent manner posing threat not only to their lives, but to other road users, the senior police officer said.

“We have caught them and released them after giving counselling to them. We also got undertaking from their parents.”

“If they (minors) are caught again, the parents of such minor children will be booked and remanded,” the senior police officer warned.
