15 years of Lakme Fashion Week!

Mumbai :To celebrate 15 years of Lakme Fashion Week this year, its organisers have planned interesting things like presenting a line up of 100 designers, including those by 21 debutantes.

The organisers said they want to make the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015 memorable. The fashion week is scheduled to be held between August 26 to 30 here.

“We are excited about this season as we celebrate 15 years. There will be a mix of established as well as new designers. We want to redefine fashion with ace designers and encourage new talent as well,” Purnima Lamba, Head Innovations Lakme, told reporters here.

There will be 100 designers this season including 21 debut designers, Lamba said adding 11 new models will walk on the ramp at this year’s gala.

Ace designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla will open Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015 and designer Gaurav Gupta will present the Grand Finale collection at an off-site location.

Established designers like Manish Malhotra, Ritu Kumar, Tarun Tahiliani, Neeta Lulla, Narendra Kumar and others will showcase their “best-ever” collection.

The “Reinvent Banaras” campaign will be launched to revive and celebrate the Banaras handlooms.

“We are looking to uplift Banaras handlooms with India’s leading designers. We put focus on Banras handlooms through exhibitions, fashion films. We are lending our support by providing platform to designers to showcase their collection with the help from Banaras weavers,” Saket Dhankar, Vice President and Head Fashion at IMG Reliance said.
