14-year-old Delhi girl abducted on way to school, gangraped by 6 youths in car

New Delhi: Five youth have been arrested for kidnapping a 14-year-old girl and gang-raping her while their sixth accomplice is on the run, police said on Friday.

The girl was rescued following efforts of an alert traffic policeman.

Those arrested from Mundka in west Delhi were Rahul and Suraj, both 19, Narender Kumar, 20, Sandeep Kumar, 21, and Ramesh Kumar, 27, while Aman, 23, managed to escape.

Police said both the accused and the girl reside in Ranhola in west Delhi.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Pushpendra Kumar said the Class 7 student was kidnapped on Thursday morning when she was on way to school in Jai Vihar in west Delhi.

“Her neighbour Rahul pulled her into a car, and along with other accused took her to an isolated place and raped her inside the vehicle. They also threatened to kill her,” Kumar said.

Kumar said the accused were spotted by Assistant Sub-Inspector Om Prakash as they were moving towards a village near Mundka.

“Om Prakash alerted a police team and rescued the girl. Five accused were arrested from the spot,” the official said.
