1,235 acres land registered for Tata’s SEZ project in Odisha

The registration process of lease deed of land earmarked for Tata Steel’s Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Gopalpur in Odisha’s Ganjam district commenced on Friday.

A total of 1,235 acres of land was registered in the name of Tata Steel SEZ Ltd. in the first phase at the Sub-Registrar office, Chhatrapur of the district.

“With the registration of land in favour of the company, we hope to get the SEZ notification for Gopalpur from the Government of India in November. By early December, we would launch Gopalpur as an investment destination,” said Gopalpur project vice-president and Tata Steel SEZ Ltd Managing Director Arun Misra.

“We have already talked to investors in China and South East Asia who have shown interest to invest in the Gopalpur SEZ,” he added.

The Gopalpur Industrial Park being developed by Tata Steel would facilitate industrial development of the region to a great extent.

Besides generating substantial employment opportunities, the Park would also contribute to the all-round socio-economic development of the area.

With the inception of the multi-product SEZ in the district, Ganjam is all set to establish itself as the next industrial hot spot of the state apart from being just a tourist destination.
