12% reservation for Muslims campaign intensified in districts

Hyderabad: It has been decided to intensify the campaign for 12% reservations for Muslims after Eid-ul-Azha. After the declaration of 5% reservation to Gujjar community in Rajasthan, the high level committee meeting was held at the office of Siasat Urdu Daily under the chairmanship of Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily in which the proponents of 12% reservation campaign were present. Mr. Zahid Ali Khan instructed Mr. Amer Ali Khan, News Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily to give importance to his district tours. It has also been decided to intensify this movement by starting postcard campaign after Eid-ul-Azha and Ganesh festival. Siasat Urdu Daily is also releasing the text of the memorandum in the form of a pamphlet to be distributed after Eid-ul-Azha prayer at Eidgah and other mosques in Hyderabad and also in the districts in order to create awareness among the Muslims and to associate them with it. Mr. Amer Ali Khan made it clear that it is a movement of the Muslims campaigned in favour of the Muslims, so all the Muslims should associate themselves with it.

In the high level committee meeting held at Siasat Urdu Daily, the decision of the Govt. of Rajasthan was considered in which 5% reservation has been provided under Special Backward Class category for Gujjar communities. It is likely that the act will also be passed in Rajasthan Assembly. In such a case the reservations would exceed 50% ceiling in Rajasthan. However Govt. of Rajasthan claims that 5% reservation scheme was approved by the Central Govt. under the 9th Schedule of Constitution of India wherein such provision exists. Since BJP is the ruling party in the center and in Rajasthan, this was possible. It may be noted that the former Congress Govt. led by Dr. YSR had provided 5% reservation to Muslims but it was stopped after challenging it in the A.P. High Court.

In the light of the past experience and the present situation, the members of the committee campaigning for 12% reservation, demanded the Govt. to provide reservation only after getting proper recommendations from BCs commission. Chief Patron of the campaign, Mr. Zahid Ali Khan instructed Mr. Amer Ali Khan to start his visits to every mandal and districts in Telangana State to intensify this campaign.
